Legal in Vegas - Las Vegas ReLeaf Dispensary

Legal in Vegas

As you may have heard, recreational marijuana sales have been rocking Sin City since July 1, 2017. As the Las Vegas ReLeaf Nevada recreational dispensary opens its doors to adult marijuana consumers 21+, we are more dedicated than ever to providing our patients and adult users with the care, knowledge, and ReLeaf they need.

Recreational Marijuana in Las Vegas Right by The Strip

Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Nevada, you probably have some questions about what to expect when you stop by our premier recreational dispensary in Las Vegas. If you are a first-time consumer or if it’s been awhile since you’ve dosed, the best advice is always to start slow and small. That means, when it comes to flowers, you want to go for strains that are no more than 20-25% percent tetrahydrocannabinol (aka THC) or one 10 milligram dose of an edible.

What You Need to Know before Buying Recreational Marijuana

Know the difference between species

Before you make a cannabis purchase, understand there are two species: indica and sativa. Sativa strains are usually more stimulating and produce a euphoric effect that can make you feel more engaged with yourself and your environment.

Alternately, indica strains produce a more relaxing effect that can make consumers calm down or ease pain. Hybrid strains contain both strains, although at times the effects of one strain will be more dominant.

Take it easy with edibles…we mean it

There are many kinds of tasty marijuana products for your to try. But when it comes to edibles, keep your doses to 10 milligrams, since edibles can be both extremely potent and disorienting. Depending on how much and what kind of edible you ate AND how quickly your body metabolizes the edible, you may not feel anything for up to 2-3 hours.

For your safety, after your first dose, don’t dose again until you feel the effects of the edible and can gauge your body’s reactions.

How much money does buying recreational marijuana cost?

Due to increases in taxes and demand, the price for marijuana products has risen for both medical and recreational cannabis consumers. A gram of flower can cost between $10-15, while an ounce (about 28 grams) can cost anywhere from $150-325. The cost of edibles and concentrates depends on the product.

Where can I consume recreational cannabis?

Currently in Nevada—regardless of where you’re from—you can only consume marijuana in a private residence. Although that does include spaces like your backyard and porch, it does NOT include places like concerts, festivals, bars, or even marijuana lounges until they are legal.

If you are tourists seeking a place to enjoy your ReLeaf, it’s best to find a private property where you have express permission of the owner to consume marijuana on the premises. Even though it’s legal to possess up to an ounce of marijuana, consuming cannabis in public is still illegal and can carry a $600 fine.

What about driving?

As with any substance that alters your state of mind, it is not safe to drive while high—even more importantly, it’s illegal. Although it’s okay to drive with the legal amount of marijuana IN the car with you, it is a crime to drive while under the influence.

Also keep in mind that because cannabinoids linger in your body for several days, and even weeks, depending on your body’s metabolic rates and your consumption habits, you can put yourself at risk for a DUI even if you don’t “feel” high when you’re behind the wheel.

Nevada’s marijuana DUI laws

Despite having recreational sales, Nevada still has strict marijuana DUI laws. According to NRS 484C.110 and NRS 453.336, it is a crime to drive while:

  1. The driver has consumed marijuana “to a degree which renders the driver incapable of safely driving or exercising actual physical control of a vehicle”; OR
  2. The driver’s blood contains 2 nanograms per milliliter of marijuana (Delta-9-THC) or five nanograms per milliliter of marijuana metabolite (11-hydroxy-THC).

This means drivers don’t necessarily have to be “high” for a cop to arrest you for violating DUI marijuana laws; if a driver’s blood contains the minimum prohibited amount while operating a vehicle, it is considered “illegal per se” even if you were driving safely.
